2009 AAEA Executive Board meeting was successfully held in Taipei, Taiwan

  Taipei, Taiwan   December 4, 2009

The 2009 Executive Board Meeting was held successfully in Taiwan from December 3rd to 6th, 2009. Except Indonesia, other four Executive Board Member states including the Republic of Korea, India, Sri Lanka, the ROC (Taiwan), and the AAEA membership applicant, the Election Commission of Malaysia have participated the event. Attendees had later observed Taiwan's local elections on 5 December 2009.

 

Mr. Rai, Hau-Min serves as the AAEA chairman until next assembly is held in 2011

2009 Executive Board Meeting has notified the Mr. Rai, Hau-Min is to succeed Mr. Masa J.S. Chang to serve as the Chairman of the Association. Former Chairman Mr. Masa J.S. Chang of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the ROC (Taiwan) fulfilled his assignment on November 4, 2009, Mr. Rai is appointed to serve as the CEC Chairman after the nomination by the Premier of the ROC (Taiwan) and ratification by the country's parliament.

 

2010 AAEA Electoral Observation to the Sixth Presidential Election of Sri Lanka

 Taipei, Taiwan   December 2009

The Sixth Presidential Election of Sri Lanka is scheduled on 26 January 2010. His Excellency Mr. Dissanayake, Commissioner of Elections of Sri Lanka, has extended an invitation to AAEA to organize a team comprising of about  50 persons to monitor the upcoming presidential election in Sri Lanka. Chairman Rai of the AAEA has gladly accepted the offer to form the electoral observation mission to Sri Lanka. The mission will consist of delegates from AAEA member commissions and staff members from the AAEA Secretariat. Members of the mission will arrive at Colombo on 20 January 2010 and leave on  29 January after presentation of the observers' report to the Commissioner of Elections. 

2009 Board Meeting recommends members to vote on accepting the Election Commission of Malaysia (ECM) as AAEA Member

 Taipei, Taiwan   December 4, 2008

The meeting of the 2009 Executive Board in Taipei has resolved to recommend AAEA member states to accept the membership application of the ECM as AAEA member. The applicant will be submitted further to the General Assembly which will later be held in 2011 to endorse this decision by a majority vote.

The board also agreed that the ECM will also be invited to attendAAEA activities including the General Assembly before its AAEA membership is officially approved.

Dato' Ngah Senik, Secretary of the ECM, presented the AAEA Secretariat an official statement to express their willingness to join the AAEA on November 12 2009.   As per AAEA Charter stipulations, the Secretariat submitted their letter to the 2009 Executive Board Meeting for study and the latter to make a recommendation to be circulated among members of the General Assembly.

2010 AAEA Observation Mission on Sri Lanka Presidential Election

Honorable Commissioner Dissanayake, Department of Elections, Sri Lanka, invited the AAEA to organize an AAEA mission to observe Sri Lanka Eastern Province Provincial Councils Election from 20 to 29 January 2010.  The mission consists of forty-one observers and electoral officials from 13 member states of the AAEA.

2009 AAEA Executive Board Meeting held  in Taipei, Taiwan on 3 ~ 6 December, 2009. AAEA Chairman have invited Executive Board Members of the AAEA  (Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India) and AAEA consultant Mrs. Teresita Dy-Liacco Flores to attend the meeting in Taipei. 


2008 AAEA General Assembly

The General Assembly was held from the 21st to the 25th of July, 2008 at Taipei, Taiwan. 10 out of the 17 AAEA member states participated the meeting.  IFES, and the electoral commissions of Malaysia and Thailand also sent their delegates to attend the Assembly.

2007 AAEA Executive Board Meeting held  in Jakarta, Indonesia on 12 ~ 15 June, 2007. AAEA Chairman Masa Chang have invited Executive Board Members of the AAEA  (Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India) and AAEA consultant Mrs. Teresita Dy-Liacco Flores to attend the meeting in Taipei.

2005 AAEA Observation Mission on Sri Lankan Presidential Election

Honorable Commissioner Dissanayake, Department of Elections, Sri Lanka, invited the AAEA to organize an AAEA mission to observe the fifth Sri Lankan Presidential Election from 10 to 20 November. 


2005 AAEA General Assembly

The Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA)  held 2005 AAEA General Assembly from 23 to 27 March in the city of Taipei.
